Take take your design out of the box.

Feel your mail program is becoming a little.... stale? Perhaps it is time to mix it up a bit. While postcards and letters are sure to get some response, these unique designs really kick things up a notch (to quote Emeril Legasse).

The key to utilizing the strategy effectively is to be creative, unique, exciting, funny, or extreme while keeping the message and content of the mailer relevant to your company, your product and your brand.

Mailers sent in odd shaped enveloped, cardboard tubes and bottles always deliver a wonderful response, but the postage can drain a bank account. Instead, opt for sending your mailer in an envelope but include an eraser, or another inexpensive insert to give the envelope some texture or weight.
While sending odd shaped or heavy mailers does take its toll on the pocket book, mailing to a small list of super qualified prospects or past customers will send response rates through the roof- not to mention the "buzz" it will create about your brand when people share your creative ideas.
Be creative, unique, exciting, funny, or extreme while keeping the message and content of the mailer relevant to your company, your product and your brand.

These stellar designs may be a little over the top for the average mailer, however incorporating engaging and unique elements into the design of a mailer are within reach for any mail program. It is all about keeping it clever.  If a di-cut insert is a little overwhelming for your mail budget, perhaps a pamphlet inserted into an envelope is a nice alternative, just be sure to write compelling copy and incorporate unexpected images.

Inserts, printed envelopes. and even sending mailers inserted into a UPS envelopes are great unexpected ways to increase response.
